About Me
I am a NYU Langone hospitalist and internal medicine physician with a fellowship in geriatrics and palliative care. I evaluate and treat adult patients in the hospital, who may have a variety of medical conditions. I also offer medical consultations to surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, and obstetrics–gynecologic patients on the request of their primary medical team.
I am dedicated to taking care of my patients by looking at the complexities of each case and being aware that they may have complicated medical needs, multiple chronic conditions, age-related changes, and social and family issues that require a comprehensive team approach.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a doctor—to be involved in patient care and making people feel better. Family members inspired my love of medicine, including my father. As a young man, he was a semiprofessional soccer player, and later in life, he needed multiple foot surgeries and interventions. He appreciated the need for good medical doctors and how they can improve someone’s life in a trying time: he encouraged me to pursue a career in improving the overall patient experience. As a young girl, I also spent many days in the classroom observing my uncle—a radiologist in Romania with a passion for anatomy—teach his medical students and watch them develop their love for medicine.
My treatment philosophy is to offer the best patient care by completing a daily assessment. I constantly evaluate not only the physical aspects of my patients’ health but also their mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. I understand the importance of communicating effectively with my patients and their families. I strive to build a strong, trusting relationship as their inpatient hospital physician and to pass on that care to their outpatient primary physician.
In addition to caring for patients, as a medical unit director I provide medical leadership and direction to our healthcare team by overseeing day-to-day operations, maintaining and improving the quality of care provided on the unit by monitoring patient outcomes, implementing quality improvement initiatives, and participating in audits and inspections. I am also on various committees that focus on the patient experience and whose goal is to deliver the best-quality care we can to our patients.
