Research My Research
Research Summary
I first became interested in acupuncture almost thirty years ago when facing chronic pain from an inflamed nerve. After a series of treatments not only was I pain free, I also had less general tension and lowered anxiety. Since then, I’ve had many experiences with acupuncture, both as a patient and practitioner. I’ve seen the positive impact my own health and the health of my patients on a physical, mental and emotional level.
I specialize in trigger point / myofascial release techniques that help relieve pain, release spasmed muscles, decompress joints, increase range of motion and profoundly improve well-being. I will address trigger points (tight, tender areas within a muscle) whether I am treating muscle pain, headaches, depression, or anxiety. This style of acupuncture can be extremely effective in relieving symptoms and healing imbalances, often in a very short amount of sessions.
I also love to incorporate Reiki into sessions, because it is a gentle and effective way to lower stress / anxiety and decrease inflammation in the body. The physical, mental and emotional bodies are deeply intertwined, each affecting and affected by the others. Acupuncture and Reiki can play a significant role in a more holistic concept of overall health, and I am excited to offer these modalities as a part of the Integrative Health Department here at NYU Langone Health.
