Joanne M. Agnant, MD

As a pediatric emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone, I provide compassionate care to children, adolescents, and young adults facing urgent and acute conditions. My role involves rapid diagnosis and treatment in high-pressure situations, where timely interventions are crucial. I specialize in managing a wide range of urgent and acute conditions, from common illnesses to life-threatening emergencies.

Throughout my career, I have focused on proactive healthcare engagement and fostering strong partnerships with my patients and their families. I prioritize clear communication with my patients and their families during stressful moments to ensure everyone understands the care plan. With extensive experience in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, I have been privileged to serve a diverse population, addressing each family’s unique social and cultural needs.

In addition to caring for patients, I am dedicated to advancing medical education and health equity, which is reflected in my role as the associate program director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. There, I mentor physicians-in-training as they develop their clinical skills, teaching abilities, and scholarly pursuits. Additionally, as the associate medical director at the New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences, I support simulation-based education for health professionals, collaborating with educational leaders to improve health outcomes, equity, and safety for all patients.
