A stye is a common condition in which a red bump resembling a pimple forms on the eyelid. Although treatable, styes can be a nuisance. Sometimes, they can persist despite therapy. NYU Langone ophthalmologists are skilled in diagnosing and treating styes, and can work with you to find the best way to alleviate the condition.
Treatment involves warm compresses and, occasionally, topical antibiotics. A persistent stye may require surgical incision and draining, a procedure performed in your ophthalmologist’s office.
