As part of its mission to enhance the quality of healthcare where people live and work, NYU Langone Health recently added 3 practices to its rapidly expanding ambulatory care network, which now encompasses 350 locations and 3,100 physicians.
The 3 new sites—located in Manhattan and Brooklyn and on Long Island—include 11 new physicians whose patients will benefit from the latest technology and enhanced care across the entire health system, and a commitment to quality that is a hallmark of NYU Langone Health.
NYU Langone Global Pediatrics
A large, general pediatrics practice located on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, NYU Langone Global Pediatrics serves as a major outpatient physician office under the auspices of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone. The doctors provide comprehensive pediatric care for newborns and patients up to 19 years of age. The practice is open 7 days a week: Monday to Friday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, and for sick-visit appointments Saturday and Sunday from 9:00AM to 12:00PM.
“We’ve worked with specialists at NYU Langone for many years,” says Palmo Pasquariello, MD, who co-founded the practice in 1998 with his current partners Joseph C. Licata, MD, and Bruce Brovender, MD. “We have always felt a connection to NYU Langone, but now we are truly a part of the family.” The practice’s 7 physicians conduct approximately 23,000 patient visits annually.
“Our patients are going to like accessing care at NYU Langone’s other pediatric facilities when needed, which are designed around the needs for children and families,” adds Dr. Pasquariello. NYU Langone’s flagship inpatient location, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital—34th Street, is New York City’s newest pediatric hospital, and for emergency care, NYU Langone has a dedicated KiDS Emergency Department.
NYU Langone Women’s Health Associates—New Hyde Park
NYU Langone also welcomed Jonathan Herman, MD, and Robert Wulwick, MD, from the newly renamed NYU Langone Women’s Health Associates—New Hyde Park, located on Long Island.
Dr. Herman and Dr. Wulwick are now conducting all deliveries at NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola. NYU Winthrop Hospital has a robust maternal–fetal medicine division, which includes the only fetal surgery program on Long Island, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that is ranked among the best in the world regarding survival of extremely premature babies, and the hospital offers pediatric surgery and other subspecialty services. New ultrasonography equipment also has been installed at NYU Langone Women’s Health Associates—New Hyde Park to enable virtual, real-time maternal–fetal medicine consultations with specialists at NYU Winthrop Hospital.
Their practice, previously called Elite Women’s Health Care, was established more than 50 years ago. They deliver approximately 600 babies every year, and their patients travel from as far as New Jersey. The providers offer outpatient general obstetrics and gynecology services, as well as genetic testing for patients who are at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes, including hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) and Lynch syndrome. The practice is conveniently open weekday evenings and Sunday mornings.
In addition, the practice is complemented by fertility treatment and preservation services at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York, providing patients with access to integrated, comprehensive reproductive medicine. This coordination of care will become increasingly important in the coming months as a New York State law comes into effect January 1, 2020, that will greatly expand insurance coverage for fertility services.
NYU Langone Sheepshead Bay Medical Associates
Expanding its internal medicine and primary care network, NYU Langone also recently welcomed Boris A. Khorets, MD, and Ilya V. Bilik, MD, from the newly affiliated NYU Langone Sheepshead Bay Medical Associates, located in Brooklyn. Same-day appointments are available, and NYU Langone also plans to include outpatient interventional cardiology care and related diagnostic services.
High-Quality, Integrated Care
Since 2011, NYU Langone has grown its ambulatory care network across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, and Florida. It has maintained its position as a national leader in the highest-quality outpatient care. In 2019, NYU Langone received the Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Award from Vizient, Inc. for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality, efficient, and effective patient-centered care in our outpatient settings.
NYU Langone’s electronic health record system, Epic, not only connects its vast network of outpatient and inpatient locations, it also enables the use of innovative technology—enhancing delivery of care. While at home or on the go, via the free mobile NYU Langone Health app, NYU Langone’s patient health management portal NYU Langone Health MyChart allows patients to schedule appointments directly online, access virtual urgent care, message directly with their providers, receive test results, view and update medical history and medications, and pay bills electronically.
