These are some of the honors recently given to leaders at NYU Langone:
NYU Langone Researchers Honored with Presidential Early Career Award

Three NYU Langone Health faculty members have been recognized with the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers:
- Umamaheswar Duvvuri, MD, PhD, chair, Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery, who has contributed to developing and testing novel cancer therapies and techniques to treat the disease more effectively while minimizing side effects.
- Jayeeta Basu, PhD, assistant professor, Department of Neuroscience and Physiology, who is examining how neural circuit activity influences information flow during sensory experiences to produce basic brain functions such as learning and memory. Her findings are critical to understanding cognitive function and developing potential interventions for neurological disorders.
- Ayana Jordan, MD, PhD, Barbara Wilson associate professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, who researches treatments for substance use disorders in underserved communities, and seeks out solutions for a more equitable healthcare systems.
The PECASE awards, presented by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, recognize early-career scientists who show exceptional promise in their fields and demonstrate leadership in community outreach and mentorship.
