New York Cardiovascular Associates Joins NYU Langone Health as NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea
Continuing its commitment to bringing clinical services deeper into the communities it serves, NYU Langone Health today opened its first multidisciplinary outpatient care center in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.
NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea, previously known as New York Cardiovascular Associates, or NYCVA, has cared for a diverse population of patients since the practice first opened in 2005. Located at 160 West 26th Street, they have remained a vital member of the community over the years—especially since the closing of St. Vincent’s Hospital—and have grown from a small cardiovascular practice into a large 40,000 square-foot multispecialty center that now treats more than 250 patients a day.
“NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea has done an incredible job caring for the unique needs of this vibrant neighborhood,” says Andrew Rubin, vice president for clinical affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone. “We’re thrilled to welcome and support this talented, caring group of healthcare professionals.”
The partnership formalizes a longstanding relationship New York Cardiovascular Associates has had with NYU Langone the past seven years.
According to one of the founding executive members and cardiologist Edward J. Bernaski, MD, “Since 2011, our doctors have held academic positions at NYU School of Medicine and admitting privileges at NYU Langone. NYU Langone has been a great fit for us, so we’re excited to now officially join the NYU Langone family.”
The clinical care team is comprised of 12 physicians and 5 physician assistants, among dozens of other ancillary and support staff, who collaborate to provide personalized cardiac, vascular, sleep, pulmonary, and primary care services, including:
- Heart disease testing and treatment, including heart imaging, stress tests, and noninvasive and minimally invasive outpatient procedures
- Testing and treatment for artery, vein, and pulmonary diseases
- Sleep disorder testing, conducted in an in-house sleep lab, and treatment
- Treament for diabetes and hypertension, and weight management services
- Alcohol and drug abuse treatment and smoking cessation
- HIV/AIDS testing and treatment
- Immunizations and other primary care services
- Free health screening events
In many cases, same-day appointments are available.
Often times, patients with heart disease will have other health problems simultaneously, like diabetes, high blood pressure, and pulmonary disease, which is why NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea provides comprehensive care for these conditions at one convenient location. Patients can see multiple specialists in one visit without traveling to different doctors’ offices.
Consistent with NYU Langone’s trifold mission to provide high quality medical care, education, and research, NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea operates nearly a dozen clinical trials for new cardiovascular medication and operates an on-site training program for future technicians and medical assistants.
In addition to the main office in Chelsea, NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea has nine satellite diagnostic offices located in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn that will join the network as well.
NYU Langone’s Ambulatory Network Provides Enhanced Integration and Resources
Patients at NYU Langone Medical Associates—Chelsea can easily access care throughout NYU Langone’s integrated health system, including urgent care services at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care West Side, or, for more complex care, at NYU Langone’s main campus on First Avenue in Manhattan.
No matter which location patients receive care, physicians across NYU Langone can retrieve up-to-date medical records and test results via Epic, NYU Langone’s electronic health record system. Patients also are able to manage appointments, communicate with physicians, and remotely refill prescriptions through Epic’s patient portal, NYU Langone Health MyChart.
Since 2011, NYU Langone has grown its ambulatory care network to more than 230 locations across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Staten Island, Hudson Valley, and most recently South East Florida. All the while it has maintained its position as a national leader in the highest quality outpatient care. In 2017, NYU Langone received the Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Award from Vizient, Inc. for the third year in a row.
