NYU Langone Health has plans in place in preparation for a second wave of 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Fritz François, MD, chief medical officer and patient safety officer at NYU Langone, shared the plans with Fox News, noting “the seven T’s to keep their workers and patients safe: tools, testing, teams, triage, treatments, trials, and throughput.”
The plans include stocking up on personal protective equipment (PPE), developing specialty teams, and implementing new triage processes. NYU Langone is also conducting trials for COVID-19 treatments, such as convalescent plasma and stem cell therapy.
“I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for us to do research and publish what it is that we find, as opposed to just doing things anecdotally,” says Dr. François. “And we now know so much more about COVID-19 than we did before.”
