Fritz François, MD, executive vice president and vice dean, chief of hospital operations at NYU Langone, has been named among the 2022 Notable Black Leaders by Crain’s New York Business. The annual list recognizes Black professionals whose achievements enhance New York City and the lives of New Yorkers.
Dr. François was recognized in part for his role as one of the key administrative leaders responsible for coordinating NYU Langone’s planning for and response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. He helped devise a strategic game plan to ensure NYU Langone had the necessary tools, teams, triage, therapies, and throughput (which became known as “The Five Ts”) needed throughout the pandemic for the best possible outcomes.
Dr. François also strives to eliminate health disparities through medical education. In his role as national chair of the American College of Gastroenterology’s minority affairs committee, he assists underrepresented trainees, and he developed a summer research program to address health disparities.
