NYU Langone Health has been recognized by Forbes magazine as a 2022 Best Employer for Diversity. This is the latest in its growing list of accolades for being a “best place to work.”
“Fostering and supporting a diverse workforce is one of our core values at NYU Langone,” says Molree Williams-Lendor, JD, LMSW, NYU Langone’s senior director of workplace culture and inclusion. “We have long recognized that having diverse voices at the table makes us a better organization, helping us to be excellent across our mission areas. This accolade speaks to our deep commitment to making this a place where everyone’s contributions are valued, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, or differing abilities.”
To select its honorees, Forbes partners with an outside research firm that polls both current NYU Langone employees, as well as employees at comparable organizations, about their impressions of our workplace environment. Responses from minority groups were weighted higher than those of other respondents.
“The fact that this award is based on our own employees’ observations, as well as our reputation among staff at peer institutions, makes it particularly meaningful,” says Williams-Lendor.
Also factored into the award is the makeup of companies’ executive leadership and board members.
NYU Langone is always proactively looking for new ways to recruit diverse candidates and create an inclusive and welcoming environment for every member of our staff. Recent examples include our growing number of employee resource groups (ERGs), where staff members can connect with those who may have similar backgrounds or experiences.
“We’ve recently added an ERG for employees over 50, and another for neurodiversity is set to have its initial meeting in the coming weeks,” says Williams-Lendor. “It’s one of the ways that NYU Langone helps foster a culture where our differences are valued and celebrated.”
