Results of a preliminary study, reported at the 2022 European Society for Medical Oncology Congress, show that a single blood test can screen for more than 50 types of tumors.
Ruth Oratz, MD, a medical oncologist at NYU Langone Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, tells U.S. News & World Report that it would be “fantastic” to screen for many cancers with a single blood draw.
“This is very exciting technology,” says Dr. Oratz, also a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “But, we’re not there yet.”
