New Facility at Essex Crossing Opens July 2
NYU Langone Health has launched the phased opening of its Joan H. and Preston Robert Tisch Center at Essex Crossing, a large multispecialty outpatient facility at 171 Delancey Street, near the entrance to the Williamsburg Bridge.
The 55,000 square-foot center will ultimately span 3 floors, with more than 30 exam rooms—providing the capacity to care for more than 300 patients daily—as well as 4 dedicated operating rooms for orthopedic surgery, a foot and ankle care center, and a women’s sports medicine center—all under one roof.
“We’re thrilled to bring this new, comprehensive network of clinical services to the Lower East Side, one of New York City’s most vibrant neighborhoods, but one with many pressing needs for access to the highest quality medical care,” says Andrew Rubin, vice president for clinical affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone Health. “We always look at where our patients live and work, and this location provides a convenient alternative not only in the immediate area, but also for those located in the Financial District and Williamsburg.”
Beginning Monday, July 2, adult patients can schedule appointments with more than a dozen specialists in the following disciplines:
- addiction medicine
- cardiology
- foot and ankle care
- orthopedics
- pain medicine
- primary care
- podiatry
- sports medicine
Plans are underway to add spine surgery and rheumatology services in August, endocrinology and physical medicine and rehabilitation services—provided by NYU Langone’s renowned Rusk Rehabilitation—in the fall, and an outpatient orthopedic surgical suite at a later date.
Additional specialties, including gynecology, otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat), and plastic surgery, will be phased in as the center becomes fully operational.
About the Facility
To make it easier for patients to schedule consultations and follow-up care at one central location, NYU Langone’s Tisch Center at Essex Crossing will have on-site diagnostic services like lab testing, X-ray imaging, and cardiology and vascular studies. Most medical insurances are accepted, and patients also will have the option to utilize a self-service kiosk at the facility to expedite check-in and decrease waiting time.
Through NYU Langone’s website and NYU Langone Health MyChart, its health management system, patients can schedule appointments directly online, communicate with physicians and staff, receive test results, view and update medical history and medications, and pay bills electronically. In addition, care providers have access to up-to-date medical records and test results for their patients via Epic, NYU Langone’s electronic health record system, which virtually and seamlessly connects every location across NYU Langone’s vast network of inpatient and outpatient facilities.
