Offering a new and appointment-free way for New Yorkers to receive care from the system’s world-class network, NYU Langone Health this week debuted Care on Demand, offering patients walk-in access to primary care in Manhattan’s West Village and on the Upper East Side. The locations are available to new and existing NYU Langone patients alike, providing a front door to the top-ranked system and its comprehensive services and locations.
NYU Langone Care on Demand—West Village opened at 540 Hudson Street, near Charles Street, on August 19. NYU Langone Care on Demand—Upper East Side opened at 1465 Third Avenue, near East 83rd Street, on August 26.
“NYU Langone Care on Demand offers a new opportunity for people to access our system’s exceptional quality, in the moment and without an appointment,” said Robert I. Grossman, MD, CEO of NYU Langone and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “Once they are connected to the NYU Langone network, new patients can procure the full spectrum of top-ranked clinical specialists available at one of our more than 300 locations, with all of their medical information available to care teams through a single, secure electronic health record.”
Unlike urgent care facilities, which treat acute illnesses, Care on Demand focuses on primary care, with clinicians at each location able to treat these and other common health issues:
- allergy and asthma symptoms
- chronic or intermittent pain
- conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye
- gastrointestinal issues
- rashes
- urinary tract infections
- viral illnesses (e.g., common cold, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and COVID-19)
“NYU Langone Care on Demand offers not only convenient care, but continuity of care all across our entire network,” said Andrew W. Brotman, MD, executive vice president and vice dean for clinical affairs and strategy, chief clinical officer, at NYU Langone. “This includes access to the NYU Langone Health app, and the NYU Langone Health MyChart patient portal, which connects each patient with Virtual Urgent Care, telemedicine appointments, lab results, and easy communication with their providers.”
NYU Langone has 6 inpatient locations and a vast network of more than 300 outpatient sites across the New York metropolitan area and in Florida. Its network has been awarded the Ambulatory Quality and Accountability Award from Vizient Inc., a leading healthcare performance improvement organization, and named the No. 1 physician practice network in the country by Vizient in every year but one since the award’s inception in 2015. This distinction recognizes NYU Langone’s consistent excellence in delivering high-quality care in five key domains: access to care, quality, efficiency, continuum of care, and equity.
