Over the past 10 years, there have been major changes and advances in breast cancer treatment. The changes cut across disciplines including mammography, surgery, reconstruction, and more.
Hoda Kotb, from NBC’s Today, spoke with her doctor, Freya Schnabel, MD, director of breast surgery at Perlmutter Cancer Center, to discuss these advancements. “Ten years in breast cancer is like a century because the pace, the change that happens, is just accelerating all the time,” Dr. Schnabel says. “We’re going to do a much better job of picking up early breast cancer where the treatment can be much less obnoxious and much less life altering.”
