Mayor Bill de Blasio announced childhood vaccinations rates are down 63 percent in New York City during the coronavirus pandemic.
Sara Siddiqui, MD, a pediatrician at NYU Langone Huntington Medical Group and clinical assistant professor in NYU Langone’s Department of Pediatrics, says parents should feel confident coming to their pediatrician’s office, and explains the importance of maintaining pediatric well-child visits so children receive important vaccines on schedule.
“This would be very dangerous during a pandemic to have diseases that we already have vaccines for reemerge,” Dr. Siddiqui tells PIX11.
Pediatricians at NYU Langone are taking extra precautions to keep kids safe during their visits, with social distancing measures in place and stringent cleaning processes.
