NYU Langone Ranked #2 in New York State & #2 in New York Metro Area for Third Year in a Row
NYU Langone Medical Center is #15 in the nation on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2014 – 15 Honor Roll,” with 13 nationally ranked specialties, including top 10 rankings in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Geriatrics. Additionally, NYU Langone once again ranked #2 in New York State and #2 in the New York metro area for being a high performing hospital.
NYU Langone is the only hospital in New York to receive top 10 rankings for all three musculoskeletal specialty areas of orthopaedics, rheumatology, and rehabilitation. Additionally, NYU Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation was again ranked the best in New York State and among the top 10 in the country, an honor held for 25 years since U.S. News & World Report first introduced its annual "Best Hospitals" rankings in 1989.
The Medical Center’s 13 nationally ranked specialty areas are: Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Geriatrics, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Urology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Cancer, Nephrology and Pulmonology. Gynecology was also ranked as a “high-performing” specialty.
A leader in quality care, NYU Langone also ranked number one for overall patient safety and quality among leading academic medical centers across the nation that participated in the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) 2013 Quality and Accountability Study. In addition, the medical center received the UHC Quality Leadership Award for demonstrated excellence in the delivery of high-quality care, achieved five stars for its overall performance, and ranked number one in safety, effectiveness, and equity.
The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals ranking evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties. This year’s Honor Roll highlights just 3 percent of hospitals, out of nearly 5,000 nationwide, for their rare breadth and depth of clinical excellence. The printed “Best Hospitals” issue will be available on newsstands the end of August, but can also be accessed on the U.S. News website at health.usnews.com/best-hospitals.
