Becker’s Hospital Review (7/16) A study from NYU Langone Health found that AI-drafted patient portal messages matched the quality of those written by human clinicians, with 16 primary care physicians assessing 344 pairs of responses for accuracy, completeness, and tone, showing no statistical difference. “This work demonstrates that the AI tool can build high-quality draft responses to patient requests,” said Devin Mann, MD, professor, Departments of Population Health and Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, adding that GenAI message quality will soon match human responses in quality, communication style, and usability, though AI responses were longer and more complex.
