ABC (6/27) Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone hosted a ‘Teddy Bear Clinic’ for pediatric patients in collaboration with the enCourage Kids Foundation and the legendary Toy Solider Johnny from FAO Schwarz. The clinic is used as medical play for young patients, just one of the many interventions facilitated by the team of certified child life specialists within Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care. Patients use real or pretend medical items in a fun and nonthreatening manner. This approach helps children understand medical procedures, feel more in control of their care, and cope better overall.
