For the eighth time in a row, inpatient locations in New York City and on Long Island earned “A” grades.
NYU Langone Health has once again earned national recognition for its commitment to quality and patient safety, consistently earning an “A” on every Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade since the fall of 2020.
The top grade extends to Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion in Manhattan, NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, and NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, which remains the only hospital in the borough with an A rating. It is the eighth consecutive time these inpatient facilities have earned the highest safety score.
“Thanks to the exceptional work of our dedicated and talented patient care teams, NYU Langone hospitals remain the safest places to receive care by any objective measure, as this recognition by Leapfrog shows,” said Robert I. Grossman, MD, CEO of NYU Langone Health and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “Safety, of course, goes hand in hand with quality, and that’s why our patients can also expect one consistently high standard of care wherever they are treated.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, publishes its safety scorecard twice every year, assigning A through F letter grades to eligible hospitals across the country. The grade is based on a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and other harms to patients. It was developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, using up to 30 national performance measures of publicly available hospital safety data.
NYU Langone consistently earns top quality and safety scores from other national agencies, including being named the No. 1 hospital in the nation for quality and patient safety by Vizient Inc., appearing on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals Honor Roll,” and earning five stars for safety, quality, and patient experience by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
