Expanding its award-winning health network throughout the tristate region, NYU Langone Health has tripled its pediatric urology care team by acquiring Pediatric Urology Associates in 10 practice locations.
NYU Langone Pediatric Urology Associates offices are located in New Jersey, Connecticut, and New York, including Brooklyn, the lower Hudson River valley, and Long Island. Their mission in these communities is to provide high-quality pediatric urology care where many NYU Langone patients live and work.
“We’re continually expanding our network to better meet our patients’ needs,” said Andrew Rubin, senior vice president for clinical affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone. “Whether we’re adding new services or specialty care, or opening new practices, our goal is to make it easier for patients to access integrated, comprehensive, patient-centered care in the communities we serve.”
Lawrence Epstein, chief executive officer of Pediatric Urology Associates, is excited by the move. “We look forward to joining the top healthcare institution in the nation,” says Epstein, who will serve as assistant director, regional practices, at NYU Langone. “It is a transition that opens the doors for patients and their families to receive world-class care right in their neighborhood and for physicians and staff to broaden their pediatric practice.”
Jordan S. Gitlin, MD, a physician with Pediatric Urology Associates for two decades, said the benefits of the acquisition for NYU Langone patients include faster access to a provider and enhanced continuity of care. Dr. Gitlin is already affiliated with NYU Langone, having performed surgeries at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island for many years. He serves as the section chief of pediatric urology for the hospital and is an associate professor at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, where he trains residents and has a number of research studies underway.
“Many pediatric urology cases require collaboration with other pediatric subspecialties, including nephrology, endocrinology, pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, and radiology,” said Dr. Gitlin. “Now that we’re integrated, if I send a patient for an X-ray, the technician and radiologist have easier access to all the information about the case thanks to Epic, NYU Langone’s electronic medical record. That enhances patient care.”
The NYU Langone Pediatric Urology Associates care team includes nine physicians equipped to offer their patients a broad range of services, including evaluation and treatment of illness or disease of the genitals and urinary tract, such as kidney stones, impaired bladder function, and hypospadias. Services also include surgical interventions for circumcision, urine drug tests (UDTs), and urodynamics.

Expanding the depth of services and commitment on Long Island, NYU Langone Pediatric Urology Associates has practices on Marcus Avenue in Lake Success and Veterans Highway in Commack. The team of urology associates on Long Island includes Dr. Gitlin; Steven C. Friedman, MD; Mark Horowitz, MD; and Ronnie G. Fine, MD.
