As part of its mission to improve the health of all New Yorkers, Empire BlueCross BlueShield, in partnership with Crain’s New York Business has announced the 50 honorees of the 2020 Empire Whole Health Heroes Awards program. Empire and Crain’s created this program to honor and celebrate individuals and teams whose commitment, kindness, and exceptional leadership have helped to improve the health, wellness, and safety of the city during the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
Honorees come from all areas of health, from frontline healthcare providers, to business leaders, to essential workers. Among the 50 honorees are several NYU Langone Health personnel:
- Marra G. Ackerman, MD, clinical associate professor of psychiatry, NYU Grossman School of Medicine; and director of consultation–liaison psychiatry, NYU Langone
- Patrick M. Cocks, MD, the Abraham Sunshine Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine; and director of the Internal Medicine Residency, NYU Grossman School of Medicine
- Katherine Hochman, MD, associate professor of medicine, NYU Grossman School of Medicine; associate chair for quality of care; and director of the hospitalist program at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital
- Joseph Mraz, director of Building Service Operations at NYU Langone
