Two prominent NYU Langone Health department chairs have been named as 2022 Notable Health Care Leaders by Crain’s New York Business.
Joseph D. Zuckerman, MD, the Walter A.L. Thompson Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, and Robert Montgomery, MD, DPhil, the H. Leon Pachter Professor of Surgery and chair of the Department of Surgery and director of the NYU Langone Transplant Institute, were recognized on the list of prominent New York healthcare leaders.
Dr. Zuckerman was recognized for his leadership over the growing Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He has increased available patient treatments and faculty skill through technologies, mentorships, and patient-centered care. Dr. Montgomery was recognized for the groundbreaking advance in xenotransplantation, having performed the first-ever genetically modified pig kidney transplant into a recently deceased human on September 25, 2021.
