Recovering from COVID-19 can take time, and there are some people who have symptoms that persist long after they initially contracted the virus. Leora Horwitz, MD, an adult hospital medicine specialist and director of the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Delivery Science at NYU Langone, speaks with CBS News chief medical correspondent Jonathan LaPook, MD, on how to diagnose and treat long COVID.
Dr. Horwitz is helping guide a long COVID study with the goal of learning more about these symptoms and treatment options. “I have done research for 25 years, and I have never seen a study of this scale in this scope start in such a short amount of time,” says Dr. Horwitz. “It is an emergency.”
