In a CBS Evening News interview with Dr. Jonathan LaPook, Diane M. Simeone, MD, director of the Pancreatic Cancer Center at NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, discusses early screening for pancreatic cancer.
“We want to focus on people with two or more family members who have pancreatic cancer or people who may have a mutation that puts them at higher risk," says Dr. Simeone.
In partnership with the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, Dr. Simeone’s team has developed a pancreatic cancer risk assessment tool to help you learn if you might be at risk.
For people who have an increased risk of pancreatic cancer, based on family history or genetic test results, doctors at Perlmutter Cancer Center recommend annual screening tests to prevent and diagnose pancreatic cancer at the earliest stage possible.
