Congenital Heart Defects in Children

Cardiac experts at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone are experienced in diagnosing and treating babies and children who have all types of congenital heart defects, including some of the most complex and rare conditions.

From the moment our specialists make a diagnosis—while a child is in the womb, just after birth, or later in childhood—our comprehensive team begins developing a treatment plan for your child and family.

Our Pediatric Congenital Heart Program includes cardiologists, heart surgeons, obstetricians, maternal–fetal medicine specialists, anesthesiologists, intensive care specialists, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and other experts who work together with one goal: taking care of children with congenital heart defects.

Our team has specialized training and credentials in caring for infants with congenital heart defects. Our nurse practitioners play a pivotal role in coordinating treatment, most notably in the Congenital Cardiovascular Care Unit, when babies to young adults with heart defects require inpatient care. No matter which treatment your child needs, our team works to provide the best care possible in an environment that is safe and comfortable for the entire family.

NYU Langone experts are also committed to caring for adults with congenital heart defects.
