NYU Medical Center and Hospital for Joint Diseases Merge

The Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan and NYU Medical Center have established a fully integrated, world-class institution specializing in orthopaedics, rheumatology, and rehabilitation.

The Hospital for Joint Diseases, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, will now be known as NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases.

NYU Medical Center and the Hospital for Joint Diseases share a rich history, spanning HJD's academic affiliation with the NYU School of Medicine in 1986, its clinical association with the Medical Center in 1994, the fusion of the two orthopaedic departments in 1997, and the integration of the rheumatology programs in 2001.

After years of growing collaboration, the two institutions have officially become one.
