NYU Langone Acquires Huntington Medical Group, Expanding Access to High-Quality Healthcare in Long Island

Huntington Medical Group—one of the largest practices of its kind on Long Island—joined forces with NYU Langone Medical Center, and is now called NYU Langone Huntington Medical Group. The addition of the practice to the NYU Langone Health System will greatly increase local access to high level, quality care.

“NYU Langone and Huntington Medical Center share a deep commitment to offering high-quality healthcare and both understand the need to provide services where patients need it most—in the neighborhoods where they live and work,” said Andrew Brotman, MD, senior vice president and vice dean for clinical affairs and strategy, chief clinical officer at NYU Langone. “We are thrilled to welcome today this thriving Long Island practice to the NYU Langone family.”

The Huntington Medical Group has been a prominent fixture on Long Island since its founding in the 1950s. The practice is open 365 days a year, sees approximately 1,000 patients each day, and is known for offering patients comprehensive, personalized healthcare services under one unified system. According to the practice’s medical director, Raman Bhasin, MD, this model will not change as a result of the partnership with NYU Langone; it will only be strengthened and further enhanced.

“We chose to work with NYU Langone because our physicians work well together and complement each other,” said Dr. Bhasin. “By partnering with a world class academic medical center, we believe we will be able to offer our patients access to additional medical expertise as well as state-of-the-art methods of diagnosis and treatment in a cost effective manner.”

The agreement paves the way for both NYU Langone and NYU Langone Huntington to adapt to the changing healthcare environment from hospital-based to local ambulatory care, and to continue to provide the standard of care that New York-area residents expect.

Patients at both NYU Langone Huntington locations, Huntington Station and Commack, will have enhanced access to NYU Langone’s vast range of highly specialized tertiary and quaternary medical and surgical care at its Manhattan hospital campuses and throughout NYU Langone’s expanding network of ambulatory facilities. In addition, patients will now have access to clinical and research experts at NYU Langone for cases that require more complex care or services. NYU Langone Huntington patients who come to NYU Langone for complex care will receive convenient follow-up care at NYU Langone Huntington.

NYU Langone Huntington currently offers virtually every specialty under one roof, including cardiology, dermatology, ENT, family practice, gastroenterology, hematology, oncology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, sports medicine, pain management, pediatrics, podiatry, psychology, pulmonology, radiology, surgery, and urology. In the future, NYU Langone Huntington plans to add cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology, and cancer treatment services.

NYU Langone Huntington will participate in the medical center-wide electronic health record (EHR) system called Epic, which ensures that physicians anywhere within the NYU Langone system will have the most up-to-date patient information. This is especially important for coordinating care among primary care physicians, specialists, and emergency department physicians.
