Senior Vice President for Strategy, Planning, and Business Development
Richard (Rick) J. Donoghue, senior vice president for strategy, planning, and business development at NYU Langone Health, is responsible for the strategic initiatives of NYU Langone, which includes both NYU Langone Hospitals and NYU School of Medicine. He is also responsible for the medical malpractice program and managed care contracting at NYU Langone. Since his arrival in 1990, Mr. Donoghue has worked in a variety of positions including chief financial officer, chief information officer, and head of the Merger Office, responsible for the integration of NYU Langone Hospitals with Mount Sinai Hospital and the subsequent dissolution of that union. Mr. Donoghue is Chairman of the Board of Healthix, the largest regional health information organization in the country.
Prior to joining NYU Langone, Mr. Donoghue spent 16 years in consulting and public accounting, including 5 years as a partner with Ernst & Young. He has an MS and BBA from Adelphi University and is a certified public accountant and certified healthcare financial professional. He served on the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s National Principles and Practices Board, including three years as its chair. For the last 17 years, Mr. Donoghue has served as a technical editor for the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s hfm magazine. He is a frequent lecturer at NYU and NYU School of Medicine, and also taught graduate courses in healthcare finance at the University of Miami and the Baruch Zicklin School of Business.
