The Perlmutter Cancer Center Community Outreach and Education Program, in collaboration with the American Academy of Dermatology, offers free skin cancer screenings each May.
Free Screening Available
We offer free skin cancer screenings once a year.
All are welcome at our annual screening event, especially those who are at high risk for skin cancer. This includes people who have a mole that has changed in appearance, a previous history of melanoma, or are over age 50, especially men.
During screening, a dermatologist visually inspects the skin for signs of cancer. You receive your screening results at the time of the exam. We encourage you to share your results at a follow-up appointment with a dermatologist.
Screening saves lives. Of the 229 people screened at our 2019 screening event, we identified 1 person who had suspected melanoma, 4 people with lesions for suspected melanoma, 17 people with lesions of concern for basal cell carcinoma, 14 people with lesions for suspected squamous cell carcinoma, and 1 person who had possible merkel cell carcinoma.
