Cognitive Skills Training Program

The Cognitive Skills Training Program at NYU Langone’s Pearl I. Barlow Center for Memory Evaluation and Treatment teaches people about the various cognitive memory changes that normally occur with age. We contrast that with the changes that are typical of various conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. We also teach strategies to strengthen memory and enhance your everyday level of cognitive functioning.

Topics covered include:

  • normal age-related changes in memory
  • how depression, stress, diet, and physical exercise affect memory
  • strategies for improving memory functioning
  • how to strengthen cognition

The class is led by a neuropsychologist at the Pearl I. Barlow Center for Memory Evaluation and Treatment. Our program is offered over the course of six 60-minute sessions. Class size is limited to 10 participants, and sessions are held weekly.

By the end of the program, participants report significant gains in their knowledge of age-related cognitive changes and changes associated with dementia and memory loss.
