Chiropractic Services for Pain Management
If you have acute or chronic nonspecific back or neck pain, you may benefit from chiropractic care. Chiropractic treatment involves the manual adjustment of joints in the spine by qualified professionals. Many chiropractors combine these manual therapies with other treatments, such as exercise.
Some conditions chiropractors treat include back pain, neck pain, chronic pain, headache, whiplash, and work-related injuries. At NYU Langone Occupational and Industrial Orthopedic Center, we design your chiropractic treatment plan to be specific to your needs and goals, and base it on your health history and the results of a physical examination. We also take into account the physical, psychological, and social effects that pain and injury can have.
You are expected to play an active role in your treatment and in the recovery process. Treatment typically occurs 1 to 3 times per week and takes 15 to 30 minutes to complete. It involves hands-on therapies that aim to restore motion to your spine’s joints and relieve pain, which is complemented by exercise, lifestyle modifications, and self-managing strategies that give you the tools you need to become independent. We also modify your treatment as your needs change.
At the Occupational and Industrial Orthopedic Center, your chiropractor is part of a team that includes a medical advisor, physical therapists, a psychiatrist, and a psychologist. Our experts can also provide you with referrals to specialists outside the center.
