Vilcek Hall Naming Campaign
Support scholarships and create a legacy.
Why Scholarships? Why Now?
NYU School of Medicine marked its 175th anniversary with a special opportunity for our alumni and friends: when you make a pledge or outright gift of $30,000 to support scholarships, you can name a dormitory room and be included on group plaques recognizing our donors, displayed in the lobby and dorm hallways of Jan and Marica Vilcek Hall, the heart of student life on the School of Medicine’s campus.
In 2018, the School of Medicine made a historic commitment to award full-tuition scholarships to all MD degree students. Ongoing scholarship support is essential to the School of Medicine’s continued success, allowing us to enroll the finest students today and cultivate future generations of outstanding physicians. By greatly reducing the burden of student debt, full-tuition scholarships enable students to choose their field of practice based not on financial necessity but on their desire to make the most meaningful difference for patients. Ultimately, then, scholarships may lead to solutions to some of the greatest challenges in healthcare today.
When you support scholarships, you help our students go as far as their dedication, talent, and ambition will take them. With your gift of $30,000 or more to the Vilcek Hall Campaign, you can help shape the future of medical education—and be gratefully recognized in the hall that is home to the next generation of physician leaders.
Jan and Marica Vilcek Hall is a state-of-the-art residence that opened its doors in 2011, thanks to a generous gift from Jan Vilcek, MD, PhD, a distinguished faculty member of the School of Medicine and an NYU Langone trustee, and Marica Vilcek, who are ardent supporters of scholarships. Centrally located on East 26th Street, Vilcek Hall houses more than 400 medical students every year.
The Vilcek Hall Campaign is the cornerstone of one of the largest scholarship fundraising drives in the School of Medicine’s history. Established to commemorate our 175th anniversary, the campaign was an essential foundation for our full-tuition scholarship initiative and will ensure that we continue to provide these scholarships for successive generations of students. Scholarships have helped accelerate the unprecedented momentum that has carried us to our highest-ever U.S. News & World Report ranking—3rd in the nation for research and the best medical school in New York; we hope your name will be among those recognized for making this remarkable achievement possible.
