About My Campaign
For nearly five decades, before his retirement in 2012, Dr. Sarno was a distinguished member of the NYU School of Medicine faculty as a professor of rehabilitation medicine and a pioneer in transforming the practice of rehabilitation edicine as we know it. Dr. Sarno developed the diagnosis, treatment, and clinical management of the condition he named Tension Myoneural Syndrome (TMS). TMS, a physical disorder induced by emotional phenomena, was one of the first described mind-body syndromes.
We seek to carry on the groundbreaking work of Dr. John Sarno by establishing a training and research program at Rusk Rehabilitation for physicians interested in the theories and techniques developed by Dr. Sarno for the diagnosis and management of patients with Tension Myoneural Syndrome. In addition to physician training, the TMS fund will provide for the training of related health professionals, such as psychologists.
Your support will help us create a training and research program which will serve as a lasting legacy for Dr. Sarno's work and will benefit the many patients suffering from TMS-based chronic pain and are seeking a proper diagnosis and clinical management.
