About My Campaign
Roy Horowitz was many things to many people; first and foremost, he was a husband, a father, and a grandfather, a son, a brother; a doctor, a teacher and a mentor, a pilot, a friend, and an inspiration to all that knew him. Dr. Horowitz dedicated his life to the care of others – as a pediatrician with his own practice and at Winthrop Hospital, he healed the bodies and inspired the spirits of more children – and adults – than we can count. He met the degenerative neurological disease that he was diagnosed with over three years ago with the same drive and determination that he met any challenge that presents itself to him over the course of his 86 year – with his strong will and perseverance, he fought it until his last day. He had 3 great passions in life – his core and above all, his family – wife, Andrea, and children Sarah and David & grandchildren Jessica, Gianna, Justin and Rachel, flying, and caring for others as a Doctor. He saw teaching as his highest calling and felt that the most important thing he could do was to give back to the residence at the hospital; to give to the doctors of the future. In this honor, we know he would have wanted to continue to support the future healers who could focus on the kind of untreatable illness he had. He believed in us all, and we, his family, know what the power of educated doctors, dedicated to science and with hearts full of love, as our fathers was, will find a cure.
