About My Campaign
Kevin Matthew Penn was a son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend, teammate, coach, teacher, and mentor who fought a hard 2-year battle against metastatic melanoma with the support of Dr. Jeffrey Weber, MD, PhD, and his clinical and research teams at NYU Langone's Perlmutter Cancer Center.
Kevin was an ebullient and peaceful soul, loved by so many. Kevin impacted so many lives. He was a high school math teacher in Manhattan, where he was a perennial student favorite. Upon learning of Kevin's passing, a fellow teacher posted a photo online of Kevin hugging a crying student at graduation, with the following caption, "the day Kevin never gave up on a student and she graduated from high school, at 22 years old and while working in healthcare. She was a hard girl but cried with happiness because the only person to keep faith in her was Kevin."
It is in this spirit of caring and giving, which Kevin personified, that Kevin's family hopes to inspire giving to help with the basic research in finding a cure for melanoma.
