About My Campaign

The story begins with the forging of a friendship between Shawna Camilleri and Katina Garcia while they were training to race 104 stories (NUTS! Right?) up the new World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) in NYC as a charity function.

The Camilleri / Garcia friendship continued after the race and they wish to share the story of Camilleri’s son Keenan, who was born with a debilitating rare genetic disease called Microcephaly Capillary Malformation Syndrome. As an infant, Keenan, spent 196 days in the PICU; 27 of those days in Miami before being air ambulanced to NYULMC (NYU Langone Medical Center) at NYC. Keenan underwent 2 brain surgeries just after his 1st birthday, a VNS implantation device, then a G-tube. He is on numerous medications around the clock. Most children of this disease are not expected to make it past the age of 2.

The Camilleri family is forever grateful to NYULMC and they cherish every day with Keenan.  Our goal is to raise funding and awareness so research efforts can continue to find a cure. The NYULMC team led by Dr. Orrin Devinsky is the global leader in this field and FACES (Finding A Cure for Epilepsy & Seizures) is the organization that we are inviting you to participate in. FACES is dedicated to helping people and families living with epilepsy, through research, education and clinical with community support programs.

Please use the Link to find out more about this devastating condition and what FACES can do with our help. 100% of all net funds we raise will go directly to FACES.  An invitation only Garden Gala is being held on September 15, 2018 to raise funds and also several other promotional efforts are planned. THANK YOU for your support.
