About My Campaign
Tomorrow, April 2nd is my 16th birthday and like many other teens, I had big plans to celebrate. I was going to go to my favorite singer's concert with my friends and have a big party. However, this concert along with many other events around the world have been cancelled due to COVID-19, and rightfully so. Still, my heart goes out to all those whose events such as this concert have been cancelled, whether it's your prom, senior graduation, or other such things. Like many, I was very disappointed that this concert was cancelled but COVID-19 is doing more than just cancelling our events. The suffering of those who have been directly affected by coronavirus is terrible and missing out on a concert is nothing in comparison. I'm very thankful and lucky to be living in South Korea where cases are not increasing at such a rapid rate compared to other countries such as the US or Italy. As of April 1st, the number of confirmed cases in the entire world is in the high 800,000s, the number of deaths is close to 45,000, and the average mortality rate is 5%. These numbers will continue to increase and yet medical staff around the world are working at their max to save these patients.
Reading about all the struggles these people face devastated me so I decided to ask my parents to donate the money they would have spent on the concert to this cause; and I would like to ask you to join me. This specific campaign donates directly to NYU Langone Health and their fight against COVID-19. As you may know, New York is getting hit hard by coronavirus so donations would go directly to helping the tirelessly working people fighting this virus.
Any donation would mean a lot to the NYU Langone faculty and staff and me as well. If you feel motivated to donate any amount, no matter the size, please do. I understand that coronavirus has hit the economy hard so please give what you can. Honestly, it sucks that everything is getting cancelled, especially to the class of 2020, I feel so bad that your senior year has turned into this. This is an unprecedented phenomenon that is affecting every single person in the world. Let's unite and do something about what has caused all of this and try to give and support these brave doctors, nurses, pharmacists, EMTs, and any other medical staff member fighting COVID-19.
