About My Campaign
Dear friends,
As many of you know, my son Kyle who is now 29yrs. old, has had epilepsy since the young age of 6. Epilepsy has robbed him of lots of things: time spent in the hospital, 4 brain surgeries (another 2 upcoming), recoveries, monitoring, not feeling well and having seizures, heavy medications. Then there's the whole social piece: lost school, teasing, missing out of regular social interaction and fun times, lack of independence, people being afraid - I could go on and on. As a mom, I have wanted to be able to "kiss it and make it better", - I can't. But you can help. So, this year for my birthday I’d like to invite you to contribute to my fundraising campaign for FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) at NYU Langone Health. There are so many reasons to get involved with this community that’s working together to enable the best medical care, research, and education. And they even provided us with an apartment at no charge when Kyle was having a major surgery. Even things like this are so important in helping families. Obviously this cause in particular is special to me.
If you feel motivated to donate any amount, no matter the size, please do. Your gift would mean so much to me, and to Kyle, along with all the others it can help. Thank you for your support.
Don't forget to take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with what to do if you see someone having a seizure, and urge your school system to train all professionals as well. You never know...
With much appreciation,
Laurie
