Miranda G. Greiner, MD

I am a clinician investigator whose research focuses on improving the delivery of evidence-based substance use disorder treatments in the community. My practice as an addiction psychiatrist and training in public health informs my approach to research, specifically in implementation science and economic evaluation. I have experience in randomized clinical trials, implementation methodology, and organizational-level economic evaluation. My current research includes economic evaluation of a collaborative care model for substance use disorder treatment in primary care clinics.

I am dedicated to expanding treatment for substance use and psychiatric disorders and I do so through individualized patient care, community-level research, and participation in various national organizations and local advocacy groups. I serve on the Council on Addiction Psychiatry for the American Psychiatric Association and the New York State Evidence-Based Benefit Review Advisory Committee. I am also a member of the New York Node of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Clinical Trials Network (CTN), NIDA CTN’s Translation and Implementation Group, and the NIDA-funded P30 Center for Drug Use and HIV Research.

As a practicing addiction psychiatrist, I value each opportunity to work with individuals and help them achieve their goals in care. Along with substance use disorder care, I provide treatment for mood disorders, anxiety, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I offer various psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational enhancement therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I believe in fostering strong partnerships with my patients to ensure a positive and effective treatment experience.
