About Me
I care for people who have conditions of the liver, kidneys, and pancreas, and perform liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants, in addition to general and hepatobiliary tract surgical procedures. I have an extensive background in minimally invasive kidney donation for living donors and living-donor liver transplants for adults and children.
I was drawn to transplant surgery because of its ability to transform people’s lives. Organ transplants are lifesaving procedures, and it is so rewarding to hear from my patients, years later, who are thriving.
Currently, I serve as the director of the abdominal transplant program at the NYU Langone Transplant Institute and director of the transplant surgery fellowship. At the Transplant Institute, our experts have a drive to provide the best care possible. All of our doctors are extremely skilled and we value the trust our patients place in us. We understand that people are putting their lives in our hands, and we guide them through the entire process of evaluation, surgery, and follow-up care. Our patients and their families are our partners and actively participate in making treatment decisions.
I always make time to talk with my patients and members of their families. It’s important that they understand the technical aspects of surgery and the available treatment options, but I also want to make sure that my patients feel comfortable and know that they can trust me.
In addition to working with patients, I conduct research on living-donor liver and kidney transplants to ensure the safety and comfort of donors. I also research ways to provide transplants for people who may not be candidates for the procedure and study the outcomes of people who have had transplants and are receiving general surgical procedures.
