About Me

Practicing medicine allows me to combine my passion for the biological sciences with the opportunity to help people. I chose to specialize in gastroenterology when my grandmother received a colon cancer diagnosis after having a colonoscopy. I was drawn to the early detection and screening technologies in the field that would allow me to help patients. Because of her early detection, my grandmother was able to receive treatment at an early stage and become cancer-free.

As a gastroenterologist at NYU Winthrop Hospital and Gastrointestinal Associates of Long Island, I care for people with gastrointestinal diseases, including gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal bleeding. I also offer colon cancer screenings. I completed two additional years of training in hepatology and liver diseases, so I can also treat patients who have viral hepatitis, end-stage liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and autoimmune hepatitis.

I perform therapeutic and diagnostic gastroenterology procedures, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy tube placement, dilation, capsule endoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy. I’m able to directly intervene and stop a bleeding ulcer or remove a premalignant lesion or polyp before it develops into cancer.

In my practice, I tailor and develop treatment plans to meet each patient’s unique needs. I strive to provide excellent medical care, with an added emphasis on each patient’s satisfaction.

I’ve coauthored a chapter in Yamada’s Textbook of Gastroenterology on the normal bacterial flora of the gastrointestinal tract. Also, I’ve published multiple articles in leading gastroenterology journals and presented the findings at national conferences, including the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) conference and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases conference. One of my presentations on rectal bleeding in young patients received the Presidential Poster Award at the ACG conference in 2003.
