When I moved to New York City, I intended to be an actress. After performing in off-off Broadway shows with the Jean Cocteau Repertory Company for two years, I realized I needed to do something I felt was more useful.

When I was in college, I had thought about medicine. I enjoyed biology and was fascinated by reproduction. So, I enrolled in a postbaccalaureate program, taking premed courses. Then I went to medical school and chose obstetrics and gynecology.

I care for people of all ages. Many of my obstetric patients have high-risk conditions with complicated medical histories, such as advanced maternal age and a history of extensive surgeries. If needed, these patients are evaluated by a maternal–fetal medicine specialist. I care for them throughout their pregnancies and deliver their babies. Each and every delivery is a miracle.

I also manage gynecologic conditions, such as fibroids, cysts, and abnormal bleeding. I offer preconception counseling and place intrauterine devices. I also help patients manage the symptoms of menopause. One of my areas of expertise is treating precancerous cervical lesions, which can cause abnormal Pap test results. I perform gynecologic surgeries, including hysterectomy, tubal ligation, hysteroscopy, and myomectomy.

Many of my patients have been with me for years. I have delivered their babies and provided their gynecologic care. Now I care for their daughters. It is very gratifying to be trusted to care for someone’s daughter.

My goal is to provide the best possible care to my patients, thoughtfully and respectfully, with shared decision-making. I want my patients to be active participants in their care.
