Research Summary

I joined NYU Langone’s neuroradiology section after six years on the neuroradiology faculty at Emory University School of Medicine. While there, I was an assistant professor in neurology and radiology and director of the stroke imaging program.

My research interests include the translational use of neuroimaging for biomarkers of hemodynamic stress, metabolism, and tissue viability.

I have been awarded the Foundation of the American Society of Neuroradiology Scholar Award in Neuroradiology Research, and received other foundational funding support, for a project called “Investigating the Utility of MR Thermometry and Perfusion in the Evaluation of Cerebrovascular Ischemia: Applications to the Ischemic Penumbra Model of Neurovascular Injury.” I have been a co-investigator on the Stroke Trials Network supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, as well as several multicenter trials:

  • Computed Tomography Perfusion to Predict Response to Recanalization in Ischemic Stroke Project, or CRISP
  • Solitaire™ with the Intention for Thrombectomy as Primary Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke, or SWIFT-PRIME
  • Diffusion Weighted Imaging or Computerized Tomography Perfusion Assessment with Clinical Mismatch in the Triage of Wake Up and Late Presenting Strokes Undergoing Neurointervention, or DAWN

I was awarded a fellowship by the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program, in collaboration with NYU Langone’s Concussion Center, for participating in a multidisciplinary project, “Performance, Imaging, and Biological Markers for Sports-Related Concussion.”

I completed my medical training at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, followed by a diagnostic radiology residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix and a two-year fellowship in neuroradiology at Stanford University Hospital.
