Research Summary
Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, M.D. and her colleagues are currently involved in investigations in areas pertaining to maternal and fetal well being, including antepartum fetal heart rate testing, fetal ultrasonography, maternal screening, obstetrical surgical techniques, maternal acid base status, obstetrical complications including placenta previa, etc.
Dr. Hoskins is also involved in an ongoing investigation in the area of the pathogenesis and diagnosis of chorioamnionitis. Specifically, studying leukocyte and other esterases' activity for the diagnosis of this infection, the long term goal being to develop a rapid simple, reliable assay for detecting chorioamnionitis in pregnancy and labor.
