The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center is one of the country’s largest, and our high procedure volume positions us to share learnings that can enhance patient experience within our institution and elsewhere. Our mandate is to improve patient outcomes, while doing everything we can to provide affordable care to our entire community. We hope that our findings and experience—combined with the research of colleagues nationwide—will help improve the quality and safety of orthopaedic surgery for patients everywhere.
Highlights of our annual report include:
- Performance Measures and Pay-for-Performance: Background on the three major pay-for-performance programs, value-based care, and patient experience data for the department.
- Quality, Outcomes, and Patient Safety: Insights into the department’s quality initiative and resulting data on topics including surgical site infection, length of stay reduction, cost-effectiveness research, and socioeconomic status and patient outcomes.
- Quality and Outcomes Data by Subspecialty: Procedure volumes and other data presented by each subspecialty within the department.
