Inside This Issue

The past year has been one of ongoing, strong collaboration between the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery. This powerful synergy informs and inspires every aspect of our clinical, research, and educational activities, as we work to provide our patients with the best possible medical care.

We’ve also engaged in collaborations across our own medical center, including a new comprehensive Spine Center with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In June, we launched the Marlene and Paolo Fresco Institute for Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders, an international clinical and research partnership between neurology and neuroscience. Our multidisciplinary partnerships have allowed us to treat over 1,000 new patients at our Concussion Center and made us a world leader in the use of deep brain stimulation at our Center for Neuromodulation.

Highlights of our annual report include:

  • Advanced Technologies Enhance Ability to Look Inside the Brain
  • International Scope for Parkinson’s Programs
  • Neurofibromatosis Center Pushes Boundaries
  • Age-Related Dementia: Moving Beyond Symptomatic Therapy
  • Using Stereotactic Imaging to Navigate the Spring
