Religious, Spiritual & Chaplaincy Services

At NYU Langone, we understand that your spiritual and emotional well being may be just as important to your health and recovery as the medical treatments you receive. Because of that, our chaplains are an integral part of the care team for patients seeking religious, spiritual, or emotional support. We have chaplains available around the clock to meet with you and your family, respond to prayer requests, and perform religious services.

If you ask to meet with a chaplain, he or she can talk with you about your diagnosis and help you to deal with the emotions that accompany illness and treatment. A chaplain can provide counseling on faith-related issues, support you during difficult conversations, and pray with you if desired. Whatever you believe, we are here to support you throughout your experience at NYU Langone.

The chaplains at NYU Langone are part of the HealthCare Chaplaincy Network. Our chaplains are board certified or eligible for certification, meaning that they have finished theological education, clinical pastoral education, and are completing an additional 2,000 hours of clinical work as well as a professional board review.

Our staff chaplains are trained to counsel people of all faiths, and our team includes rabbis and Catholic priests who are available to meet specific religious needs. If you already have a connection to a local religious institution, your clergy member is welcome to visit you at NYU Langone.
