About Me

In 2012, I joined NYU Langone’s Hospital for Joint Diseases, where I now care for people who have lower extremity arthritis and osteonecrosis. I perform total joint replacement, surgery for the revision of total joint replacement, osteotomy, and arthroscopic surgery.

I am also codirector of the Joint Preservation and Arthritis Center, where we bridge basic science, clinical medicine, and industry innovation to develop new treatments for osteoarthritis. We can create personalized treatment programs for people using biomarker information and advanced radiologic imaging. This helps us restore and preserve joint function and delay the onset of arthritis while avoiding the need for joint replacement.

I have published extensive research on adult reconstructive surgery, risk factors and complications of high risk total joint replacement, the effectiveness of total joint replacement and hip fracture treatment, and the outcomes after orthopaedic procedures.

I serve as a consultant reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the Journal of Arthroplasty, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, and the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. I am also the editor of the adult reconstruction section of JBJS Reviews.

I have published more than 135 papers and 21 book chapters, and I have been involved in 23 funded grants. In 2008, I received the Lahey Research Award from the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Massachusetts. I received the Clinical Research Award from the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. I was also honored with the Otto Aufranc Award from The Hip Society in 2014, and I have received many research awards from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

My clinical skills as an adult reconstructive surgeon have been recognized locally and nationally in many media publications. I serve as the chairman of the research committee of The Hip Society and the health policy and advocacy committee of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. I am also a member of The Knee Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
